this looks like a preview to a fast and furious movie, one of the early ones where they actually raced not one of the later ones where dwayne johnson just fights vin diesel for a half hour.

Hey LA Oppos...I'm going to be flying to LAX on July 12th from living in SE Asia for a year. I'll be looking for a car to drive cross country with my gf. I'll be cruising CL obviously looking for something 1) fun 2) reasonably reliable 3) able to be DD once I get home to North Carolina. Any suggestions on where to stay (hotel wise)... so that it's convenient for all the travelling I'll be doing while finding a car. I also need suggestions on mechanics who are good at inspections. I also have a question about smog compliance. Any benefit to getting one that has failed since I'll be taking it out of state anyway? Hope to meet up with some of you!

I'm not based in LA, but I felt that the SLS hotel was quite conveniently located. The service is also top notch, and the rooms are nice as well. The only complaint I had was that their signature suite did not have a fridge to keep my Evian cold overnight; they do offer to bring you a fridge at a price. Please note that I'm a bit biased because I'm an SPG member.
